CARING: Connected, Automated, Resilient, and Intelligent Networks Group

Home

CARING, Connected, Automated, Resilient, and Intelligent Networks Group, develops scalable optimization algorithms, simulation models, and data analytics to address grand engineering challenges focusing on societal needs. We are motivated to understand how decision-makers’ behavior, coupled with exogenous and endogenous uncertainties, impacts the design and operations of complex and adaptive systems. Research interests include game theory (non-cooperative and cooperative), simulation (agent-based, system dynamics, discrete events), network optimization, and machine learning with applications in resilient infrastructure systems, sustainable water systems, and smart and connected communities. We often collaborate across disciplines including computer science, civil and environmental engineering, social science, and geoinformation science.

The CARING is affiliated with the Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research, Department of Computer Science, Department of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering, and Center for Resilient and Sustainable Communities (C-RASC) at George Mason University.
